The Canberra wine district is an elevated region with varying altitudes and a climate that varies from crisp winters to dry summers. Winemaking in Murrumbateman began in the 1970s and is now home to a large number of cellar doors and vineyards. Murrumbateman is considered the heart of the Canberra cool climate wine region, producing some of Australia’s most loved cool climate Riesling and Shiraz as well as outstanding Viognier, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Tempranillo, Rose and Chardonnays.

The Murrumbateman Winery Trail starts conveniently at the end of our street, and at competition will take you on a 14km loop of Murrumbateman Village and surrounds. For those that keen to go off the beaten path, there are some absolute gems just waiting to be found.
