  • What if it looks like the weather will be a shocker or I want to reschedule or cancel the e-bike hire?
Here’s the run down… If you are required to cancel the ride due to inclement weather, you can reschedule the hire for an alternate available day, we will send you a rebooking code to book online. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled hire for change of mind or if you do not show up on the day. For greater than 48 hours, a 50% refund will be provided. We understand that life (and COVID) happens, we reserve the right to refund outside the above conditions minus a $20pp fee and bank charges. Please contact us to discuss further if these circumstances are relevant to your booking. We will work with you and assist wherever we can.
  • Am I good to get hammered and still ride the bike?
Nope. You wouldn’t knock back a bottle of wine in an hour and drive your car…..same for riding a bike. In NSW, a bike is considered a vehicle and as such, drink driving restrictions apply. The way the Road Transport Act 2013 is written means that low range, mid-range, and high-range drink driving offences don’t apply, but cyclists can be charged with using or attempting to use their bicycle under the influence of alcohol or any other drug. Long story short, the answer to the question is still “no”! It’s a fun full day out, pace yourself and look after each other.
  • Hey, I’m staying in or around Murrumbateman. Any chance you could bring the bike to me?
Yep. Real good chance. Get in touch so we can discuss the details. High probability that we can come to an arrangement that sees the bikes dropped off and good to go at the time and location of your choosing. Alternatively we can bring you to the bike.
  • I would like to organise a ride on a weekday. Can you help me out?
Reach out. We are here to help. Let us know the day, timings and the number of bikes you are after and we will get right back to you with a response. It’s not always going to be a yes, but hey, at least you asked.
  • Look. I can ride on the road, but I’d prefer not to. What’s my options?
Yep… good call. This is one of the main reasons Canberra Wine Region E-Bike Tours has kicked off slow and steady. The roads around Murrumbateman are in good condition and used by bike riders on a daily basis. That said, and depending on the wineries you want to visit, there are stretches of road that cars are doing 100km/h while you are traveling at speeds of 20 to 30km/h, depending on the assistance level you have selected. Now for the good news. The NSW and Australian Governments recognised this and are coming through with the goods. As the main page highlights, there will be a 14km winery trail fully constructed and fit for purpose by the end of 2022. We can’t wait to put those road traveling days behind us and have everyone cruising comfortably on dedicated cycleways. Construction is already well underway and passes by more wineries that you can fit into a full day. Yass Valley NSW - Major Project - Murrumbateman winery trail
  • I’m not a huge wine lover. Is that all you’ve got on offer?
Nope. Plenty more than just wine in Murrumbateman….that said, give the wine a try before you write it off. There is something different and very special about cool climate wine that appeals to many. Alright….back to the question. Within the local area and bike cruising distance you can visit a number of farms, make your own cheese or browse the gallery. Maybe you want a picnic in an idyllic location? Live music? Try mead? Make your own pottery? Need bee supplies & products? Experience our great local pub? Pick-up some hand dyed alpaca yarn? Don’t forget to keep an eye out for special events, such as the Village Market, Field Days, Moving Feast, exhibitions, and other events scattered throughout the year. Should we continue? Hit us up and we will keep the suggestions coming and help tailor your day.
  • But it’s cold outside!
Yep. Canberra cool climate region! So, I’ll let you in on a secret. Some of the most magnificent times of the year in Murrumbateman are during the crisper months. Think magical blue skies and minimal wind. Most importantly, you are on a top-of-the-line electric bike so you are not putting in any effort or working up a sweat. Dress to the conditions and you will remain comfortable all day long. Same as walking from the car to the cellar door, but a whole lot more fun. From experience, everyone remembers the warm clothing, but some forget the finishing touches. It is well worth considering bringing along a beanie and gloves for the coldest of days. • I’m confused. You’re not located within Canberra but claiming to be in the heart of Canberra’s cool climate wine region. What’s the go with that?
While there are a number of amazing wineries within the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), the majority of Canberra district vineyards are actually located across the ACT border, primarily at Murrumbateman, Yass, Lake George, Bungendore, Gundaroo, Collector, Sutton and Wamboin. Have a look at the link below for a better explanation. In short, Murrumbateman’s wineries are so good the ACT expanded the region to ensure they were included. • Ride the village bike used to mean something different in my day.
We hire bikes for riding in and around the village of Murrumbateman, hence the use of Ride the Village Bike as our slogan. Yes, it’s also a play on words and meant as a bit of fun but no offence is intended.

Flick us a message. We are not the type to ruin a quality family day. 14+ won’t be an issue if we have the bikes available. Anything under that, give us your best argument and we will see what we can do. That’s not a promise, lets chat….
  • Hey, bit awkward, but my partner is not talking to me and we are having an average day because I thought I would save a couple of bucks and use a bike that isn’t power assisted to get around to the wineries…please help!
We understand and get this a lot. Murrumbateman is far hillier than it looks. Give us a call. If there are bikes available we will come to your rescue with a bike capable of cruising you and your partner at 25km/h up the hills and without any effort. Your day will be back on track and those dagger eyes a thing of the past. Oh, yeah…we can look at dropping any locally borrowed bikes back as well.
